NEW DELHI: Indian stocks today ended higher in the midst of volatile trade, ending a losing streak of six sessions. The Sensex finished at 37,882 with 51 points greater while Nifty peaked at 11,284, up 0.30 percent. Banking shares today exceeded the Nifty Bank index by 0.97%.
There was also some buying in stocks of cars, FMCG, metal, and pharmaceuticals. However, profits were capped by losses in IT and energy stocks.
Yes Bank grew 10 percent to be the top gainer among Sensex stocks. Among the other top winners were Bajaj Finance (+ 7%), Hero MotoCorp (+ 3%), M&M (+ 3%), Bajaj Auto (+ 3%) and Tata Motors (+ 2%).Nifty has 11,200 assistance and is facing 11,400 opposition, tells Gaurav Bissa, LKP Securities ' AVP Derivatives & Technicals. Therefore, for next few trading sessions, the wider range is anticipated to be 11200-11400, he adds. Among the losers, Vedanta dropped by 4%, RIL by 1.5%, Bharti Airtel by 1.5% and ONGC by 1.4%.
