The BSE Capital Goods index was trading at 18,074, up 223 points or 1.25% in the morning trade. The index had earlier touched a day's high of 18,166.26 and a low of 17,941.44.
Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) emerged as the biggest contributor to the index.
The government on Wednesday has approved amendments proposed to the Toll Operate Transfer (TOT) model for national highways. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has given its approval to the amendments proposed in the TOT model by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), FM Nirmala Sitharaman said.
Public-funded national highway (NH) projects that are operational and have toll revenue generation history of one year after the commercial operations date (COD) will be monetised through the TOT model, Nirmala Sitharaman said. The approved TOT model provides for a fixed 30-year concession period, Nirmala Sitharaman added.
Sadbav, L&T, Grindwell and BHEL were the gainers on the index, while Havells, ABB and SKF India were among the losers. The overall breadth within the index was negative with 9 shares rising and 12 shares falling.
Meanwhile, the Sensex was quoting at 40,593, down 58 points, while the Nifty was at 11,981, down 19 points.
Stock view:
NCC Ltd is currently trading at Rs65.10, up by Rs4 or 6.55% from its previous closing of Rs61.10 on the BSE.
Larsen & Toubro Ltd is currently trading at Rs1,408.90 up by, Rs28.25 or 2.05% from its previous closing of Rs1,380.65 on the BSE.
