The Indian rupee opened lower by 12 paise, however, recovered slightly from lows. The local unit is now trading 6 paise lower at 71.77/$.
The currency closed at 71.71/$ on Tuesday, higher by 13 paise, owing to easing softening crude prices and firm domestic equities.
Oil prices slipped on Tuesday owing to oversupply worries and uncertainty regarding the US-China trade deal.
Meanwhile, the Sensex and Nifty are trading higher in morning trade on buying seen in the Indian markets.
