Equity benchmark indices opened higher on Friday on firm global cues. Tata Motors, Infratel, SBI, Zee and ONGC were among top gainers, while losers include IOC, Cipla, BPCL and Nestle.
The Sensex jumped 241 points at 40,527, and the Nifty was up 64 points at 11,936.
The Nifty PSU Bank index climbed 2% led by Canara Bank, SBI and Bank of India.
India VIX is trading lower by 3.45% at 15.11.
Shares of Vodafone Idea slumped 8.5% after reporting a consolidated net loss of Rs50,900cr in the second quarter to September.
Cipla fell 3% after USFDA issued 4 observations post conducting a routine cGMP inspection for both formulations and APIs at the company's manufacturing facility in Patalganga from November 4 to 13, 2019.
