Equity benchmark indices opened in the negative zone amid uncertainty in the global markets after US House voted to impeach US President Donald Trump.
Grasim, HDFC Bank, M&M and TCS were marginally up on the NSE, while losers include Yes Bank, Tata Steel, Gail and ICICI Bank.
The India VIX is marginally up by 0.26% at 12.37.
The Sensex is down 14 points at 41,543 and the Nifty down 6 points at 12,216. About 693 shares have advanced, 792 shares declined, and 598 shares are unchanged.
Shares of Lemon Tree Hotels gained 3% after the company signed a license agreement for a hotel located at Goa under the company’s brand ‘Lemon Tree Hotel’.
Asian markets are trading mixed this morning and gold edged higher as the US House voted to impeach President Donald Trump.
Further, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs1,836.81cr, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) sold shares worth Rs1,267.57cr in, provisional data available on the NSE showed.
