India's (Trai's) recent results indicator report from the Telecom Regulatory Authority has blended news for telecom investors.
Consumer spending on telecommunications services has lately stabilized, which had been dropping for several quarters. But while telecom businesses retain tariffs and revenue, volume growth in the quarter of March went off considerably.
First of all, excellent income news. According to an assessment by Kotak Institutional Equities, aggregate consumer spending on mobile services, including goods and services tax, stood at about 35,000 crores in the quarter ended March.
This translates into annual spending of approximately 1.4 trillion, 5 percent greater than the September 2018 quarter lows of approximately 1.34 trillion.
