MUMBAI: Due to heavy rains in Mumbai, the Indian rupee opened marginally lower against the US dollar on Tuesday in the midst of tight trade.
The rupee traded at $69.04 at 9.02 am, down 0.13% from its prior 68.95 close. The Indian currency opened a dollar at 68.99.
The state of Maharashtra has announced a public holiday in Mumbai following the prediction of very heavy rainfall by India Meteorological Department.
Returns on government bonds dropped as prices of oil decreased. The 10-year bond yield was 6,856%, compared to the closing of 6.88% on Monday.
