Mumbai: The Indian rupee reinforced gains in its Asian peers on Thursday for the ninth consecutive sessions against the US dollar. Locally, traders are waiting for a budget to be submitted on Friday by the govt.
The rupee traded at $68.86 at 9.15 am, 0.05 percent higher than its prior 68.90 close. The Indian currency opened a dollar at 68.82.
So far this year, against the greenback, the rupee has increased 1.5 percent. Over the era, foreign investors purchased Indian equity for $10.99 billion and debt market for $1.69 billion.
The dollar index, measuring the strength of the US currency against a basket of major currencies, stood at 96.73, down 0.04 percent from its prior 96.768 close.
