Indian benchmark indices opened flat on Thursday after closing in the red in the last two sessions. The Sensex is currently trading higher by 140 points at 41,256, while the Nifty is up 32 points at 12,139. (9.29 AM)

The sectoral trend is mixed, with Nifty Media leading losers and Nifty Realty leading gainers.

Axis Bank, L&T, IOC, BPCL, Maruti Suzuki, TCS, and HCL Tech are among the top gainers on the indices, while losers include ICICI Bank, Cipla, ZEEL, Bharti Infratel, and Power Grid. 

EPC major Larsen & Toubro is trading 3% higher after the company reported a 15% yoy rise in net profit for Q3FY20. Read more.

Companies that will release their Q3 results today include Biocon, Canara Bank, Cholamandalam, Dishman Carbogen, HDFC Life, Indoco Remedies, PNB Housing Finance, Reliance Nippon, and Zee Media.

The Indian rupee opened marginally lower at 71.21/$ on Thursday vs. previous close of 71.19.

Investors are focusing on domestic earnings and the European Central Bank's monetary policy to seek direction.

Meanwhile, Asian markets fell as the death toll in China due to the viral outbreak rose. China's Shanghai composite fell 0.8%, the Hang Seng index shed fell 1.17%, and the Nikkei slipped 0.65% in morning trade.
