Equity benchmark indices opened higher for the second consecutive session amid gains in the global markets. Asian markets edged higher amid hopes that the worst of the coronavirus outbreak in China may have been over.
The BSE Sensex was trading 328 points higher at 41,544, while the NSE Nifty added 92 points to trade at 12,200. Around 904 shares have advanced, 603 shares declined, and 573 shares are unchanged.
Tata Motors, Tata Steel, SBI, Vedanta and Coal India are among major gainers on the Indices, while losers are IndusInd Bank, Yes Bank and Bharti Infratel.
India VIX is down 2.57% at 13.52.
All the sectoral indices were trading higher, the Nifty metal index gained 1.33% led by Tata Steel, Vedanta, SAIL and Hindustan Copper.
Meanwhile, oil prices rose for a second day on Wednesday with the Brent crude was up 73 cents, or 1.3%, at $54.75 per barrel and US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose 46 cents, or 0.9%, to $50.39.
